WW1 Veterans Memorial Consecration Badge
Oberlahnstein June 23, 1935
Ehrenmal-Weihe Oberlahnstein 1935: Lahnstein is a small city in the region of Rheinland-Pfalz in Germany with a WW1 population of approximately 15,000 people. Bronze plated steel, 52 x 34 mm, soldered brass pin, full shellack, near mint condition. Listed but not pictured in Tieste, possibly 1000 were struck, maybe a few hundred survived the war, very scarce.
Names of the fallen: Some parents lost as many as four sons during WW1. I'm sure this tradegy was repeated for WW2. Noncombatant German civilians were targeted during the war. Almost half the houses in Lahnstein and Oberlahnstein were destroyed by airial bombing. These European fratricidal wars must never happen again!
