SS High Leader Damascus Honor Blade

SS WeDi Damascus Honor Blade: This blade was made after the war by the Eickhorn factory damascus swordsmiths Wuster (We) and Paul Dingler (Di) from rejected blades. Maiden-hair was the only officially approved damascus pattern for high leader daggers. This blade has a prototype rose or peacock damascus pattern which was not approved. Blade: 20.8 cm, tang 12.0 cm., nice raised gold motto "oak leaf sprigs, Meine Ehre Heisst Treue," raised gold maker mark "Echt Damast WeDi Solingen," carbon stains, clipped edges where blade meets the guard, tang ground on three sides in order to fit inside the grip, the quality was just too poor to pass inspection. Original Eickhorn SS Leader blades are selling for 40K or more. This blade is from a famous Eickhorn damascus swordsmith, possibly made from period parts, but who probably no longer had access to the heavy factory equipment and parts to make a finished dagger. A good research project.
