NSKK Chained Dagger - EickhornA Very Unusual NSKK Fuhrer Dagger: Pre 1936 grip, solid nickle fittings, crossguard marked "Wm" (SA-Gruppe Westmark), an early group from the late 1920s subsequently broken up into a number of SA-Gruppen in the early 1930s. The owner may have been promoted in 1938 because that's the year he purchased a new blade and scabbard. The new blade is marked "RZM M7/66 1938 Eickhorn Solingen" with a nice dark motto "Alles fur Deutschland." The scabbard has a special order, eye-popping paint job, a seamless, raised, textured swirling pattern that looks like the leather scabbard found on an NSKK honor dagger. The blade is like-new with light runner marks, grip and fittings show light wear, the scabbard is mint. Officer Upgrade Chain: In 1938 the NSKK authorized a chain hanger to daggers for officers. Old and newly promoted officers in the SA, the private army of the NSDAP, had the choice of either buying a new chained dagger or purchasing a new chain and band from a factory or distributer to upgrade their old enlisted man's dagger. Nickel plated steel, 23 cm, marked "Musterschutz NSKK Korpsfuhrung." The owner never put it together. He probably enlisted or was drafted in the German army just in time for the start of WW2 when Hitler invaded Poland on Sept 1, 1939. Never mounted: no screw hole in band, no screw tap in scabbard, missing the band screw and ring link, very light storage wear.
