1937 Water Customs Dagger
Wasserzoll Degen by Alcoso: Gold plated aluminum fittings, wood grip covered in fine blue Moroccan leather with twisted triple-wrapped plated wire; pommel, ferrule, and crossguard are heavily plated with bright 18K gold with high relief details; pommel has fourteen oak leaves, the 26 cm bright nickel plated cross-grained blade is hallmarked Alcoso Solingen; overall light wear. The steel scabbard is covered with fine blue Moroccan leather with three gold plated steel bands. Made from August 1937 till 1942 for the approximate 250 to 300 customs officers in the ports of Hamburg and Kiel qualified to wear this dagger plus their replacements. A very rare dagger with an estimated production of one or two thousand.
